This week is cook island week so we had to make a presentation on cook island language week this is what we did for the presentation.

Ihumatoa persuasive writing

Why has the government sold the stolen land to fetchers. And now decide to build on Maori sacred land without hearing the voices of the community first, This is why I am against the development of Ihumatoa.

I strongly believe that Ihumatoa should not development on sacred maori land. Why you say? the government cannot just build on valued land first of all. There have been treaty rules broken since 1863 until this very day. The government should take this opportunity to return stolen land. That leads me  to my second conclusion.

The idea of building Ihumatoa has not been thought out properly, Why you ask? because it’s near the airport. Just think if parents with kids move there. Their not going to get any sleep and if they don't get enough sleep, they don't work properly and if they dont work properly that could affect their pay. As a result they won't have enough money to pay bills and they will have to leave.

Why would fetchers build houses where there is no infrastructure like supermarkets, gas stations and schools how are families supposed to learn and eat.This is going to be a struggle for the family's that are going to live there thats why they should not build houses there.

In conclusion I think that there should be no housing out at Ihamatao. This due to the lack of infrastructure as such there should be no development of Ihumatoa.
